Description

  1. Martin Committee was the trademark name of the Martin Band Instrument Company’s premier lines of trumpets and saxophones starting in the mid-1930s. All were produced in Elkhart, Indiana. The Martin Committee trumpets and saxophones were favorites of jazz musicians
  2. Famous Players:
    • Virtually every professional trumpeter during that era played the Martin Committee. Some notable names include:
      • Miles Davis: He played Martin Committees until they were no longer manufactured and even contracted with Martin to continue building the Committee model exclusively for him.
      • Chet Baker, Maynard Ferguson, Roy Eldridge, Lee Morgan, Dizzy Gillespie, and Conte Candoli: All of these trumpet professionals were fans of the Martin Committee.

This particular cornet is in excellent playing condition.  There is wear and tear on the lacquer and a few dings, but nothing to keep this baby from making music.  This instrument was manufactured circa 1970 and has plenty of music left in it!
