Description

The term “Resno-Tempered” in the context of Benge trumpets refers to a specific process. According to Donald Benge, this process involves hammering and annealing (heating) a one-piece bell into shape. The Benge company specifies and practices this technique to achieve specific acoustic properties, resulting in a unique sound quality. These custom-built Benge trumpets, made in Los Angeles in the late 1970s or early 1980s, are known for their excellent sound and craftsmanship.  The CG on the second valve casing refers to Claude Gordon.  Benge described the Claude Gordon model several ways in catalogs and advertisements over the years: “Power of a large bore, with the bite and control of the medium bore trumpet.””Superb artists instrument with freedom and power of a large bore but with the grip and control of a medium bore. “The CG model is a superb solo artist instrument with the freedom and power of a large bore but with the bite and control of the medium bore. It is free blowing with excellent intonation.” The body of the Claude Gordon model is .468 “and there is a “choke “or reduction to .464 “where the bell crook meets the first valve casing.  I believe it was produced mid to late 1970’s in Los Angles.  It is silver plated and is in very good condition.  There is some wear on the second valve slide.  These instruments are sought after by players and collectors alike.  This is priced to sell!
